It also evaluates the clinical utility of a transcranial Doppler in the evaluation of plaque instability resulting in in vivo embolization among stroke patients. First, we will start by reviewing important cerebral hemodynamics principles such as cerebrovascular resistance, adequate cerebral blood flow, and cerebral autoregulation. It discusses how to prepare the patient and perform the ultrasound. It can detect stroke caused by blood clots, narrowed sections of blood vessels, vasospasm due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage, tiny blood clots and more. This chapter reviews the indications, limitations, and interpretations of the transcranial Doppler.
